Computer games gizmotechs want for Christmas

If you've ever bought games for your kids, you’ll know how hard it is to walk into a shop like Harvey Norman or EB Games and find a computer game your kids will enjoy. More importantly, how can you find a game that will keep them occupied for the summer holidays?

To give you a few suggestions we surveyed our gizmotechs Australia-wide to find out what they’re hoping for this Christmas.

Interestingly, music related games were the most sought after across all the consoles, which probably reflects the fun, social and interactive nature of these types of games. Great if you need an ice-breaker for those once-a-year relatives you’ve got visiting over the holidays!

So you can learn a bit more about them before you head into store (some of the games here are designed for older audiences), we’ve provided links to each game’s website so you can check them out.

Don't forget about Demo versions

Remember most PC and some console games come with demo versions (which you can download off the web for free).

If you use Bigpond as your ISP, the best place to go is the downloads section of Game Arena, as demo installation files can be very large (think gigabytes worth). For Bigpond Members Game Arena is unmetered meaning any downloads from that site don’t count towards your monthly data allowance. Many other ISPs also have a similar site for their users (e.g. www.3fl.net.au for Westnet and iiNet users).

What if the computer won't run the game I've bought?

Demo versions are a great way of making sure that your computer is powerful enough to run the latest games before you go out and spend your money. If you find that your computer needs an upgrade, give us a call – a gizmo upgrade me service can often do wonders for a struggling PC.
