Managing your mailbox.

Is your Outlook mailbox getting difficult to manage? Or perhaps you're sick of manually emptying your deleted items. Rest assured, there's help at hand. Auto-archiving and a feature that automatically empties your deleted items when you close the program, give you more time to focus on the content of your mail rather than messing around trying to empty your deleted items.

Auto-archive helps to manage your email by moving items older than a specified date into a separate data file. They are still easily accessible; they're just not in your face. Here's how you set it up:

  • First, in Outlook, click Tools > Options

  • Click the Other tab, and then click AutoArchive

  • In the AutoArchive window you can settings related to how regular it runs and what it archives

  • To enable the emptying of your deleted items on exit, follow steps one and two above until you have the Other tab open, then tick the box next to Empty the Deleted Items folder upon exiting.
