Twice the fun with two screens

Twice the fun with two screens

Two screens working side-by-side in unison are great for sorting and editing your digital pictures, plus they can help boost your productivity when working on documents and projects.

But instead of splashing out for a larger, more expensive monitor, consider grabbing a cheaper one to instantly double your desktop space. Flat panel LCD monitors look great and will save room on your desk.

Rattle through those reports

If you multi-task at work (and who doesn’t), having two screens allows you to get more done:

  • Keep your inbox open on one monitor and work freely on the other.
  • Open documents on one screen and surf the Internet for facts and figures on the other.
  • Finalise reports by extracting tables from your Excel spreadsheet on the other screen.

Image is everything

If you take lots of digital pictures, some of the advantages to having dual monitors include:

  • View image thumbnails on one monitor and full screen versions on the second monitor to check for focus and image quality.
  • Browse images on one monitor and edit on the other.

How do I set up a second monitor?

Video ConnectionsMany new desktop computers support dual monitors without requiring additional hardware. To see if you have more than one monitor connection, look at the back of your computer for two connectors, VGA or DVI, or one of each (as shown in the picture on the right).

If you only have a single VGA or DVI connector you’ll need to install a new video card which is capable of handling multiple screens.

If you have a Mac, all you need is a mini display port adapter to connect your Mac to your second monitor.

Ask a friendly staff member at Next Byte for help in purchasing the right adapter.
