The buzz has been building over the last few months over Microsoft's next Operating System, Windows 8. While not scheduled for release until 2012, as a test version has been made publically available we thought we'd summarise some of the neat new features.

These are just some of the new features you can expect:

New user interface called ‘metro’. This means a new Start Screen based on picture tiles vs the bottom left Start Menu you use today.
Sketch authentication. Use picture elements of the screen to login vs typing a password.
Built in USB 3.0 port, eliminating the need to load drivers.
A Windows store to buy a range of Applications.
Multiple monitor support, so each can display different backgrounds and customised taskbars for each screen.
Link with Windows Live ID, similar login experience from any computer
Faster start up times
Neat new ‘touch-user’ interface
